Size: 0-3 months

Materials: use the yarn and needles of your choice to get gauge 22 sts and 50 rows in garter stitch = 4 inch/ 10 cm

Cast on loosely 32 sts. You may want to leave a long end for sewing.

The beginning of the first row is point A.

Knit one row to arrange the stitches and for seam allowance.

This row is not counted.

 

Row 1: K1, kfb, k30 = 33 sts.

Row 2: K1, k2tg, k29 = 32 sts.

Repeat rows 1-2 for 15 times more. You have 32 sts and 16 ridges.

 

Row 33: K1, k2tg, k29.

Row 34: K1, kfb, k30 = 32 sts.

The end of the last row is point B.

 

Repeat rows 33-34 for 15 times more. You have 32 sts and 32 ridges.

Repeat rows 1-2 8 times. You have 32 sts and 36 ridges. This is the middle row of the hat = in the middle of forehead and neck.

 

Knit the other half as mirror image: Repeat rows 33-34 8 times. The end of the last row is point C. 

Repeat rows 1-2 16 times and rows 33-34 16 times. The end of the last row is point D.

Cast off. You may want to leave a long end for sewing.

 

Join point A and D and sew cast on edge to cast off edge. Join points A, B, C and D and sew the seams.
